The short version

Whole-body MRI uses no ionizing radiation and may identify findings, but it does not replace colon screening, eligible lung LDCT, or every other recommended test. The American College of Radiology says evidence is insufficient to recommend total-body MRI screening for asymptomatic people without risk factors.

Default conclusion

Start with the question, not the machine.

If you are due for a guideline-backed screen, do that first. If you have symptoms, seek evaluation. Consider elective MRI only after understanding its blind spots, incidental findings, and follow-up costs.
